Specials: Bellino/Cherrystar

Kurt Dielis has grown tomatoes for Veiling Hoogstraten since 1995. Tomato growing expertise has been passed from father to son in the family.

After his basic math-sciences training in 1995, Kurt started off as a self-employed helper in the family business. When his father retired in 2001, Kurt established the one-man business Kurt Dielis.

In 2008 his wife switched from being a teacher to horticulture. Together they established the company Hegro.Di. In the early years they still combined cucumbers with tomato growing in the autumn. But in 2005 they resolutely opted for vine tomatoes.

They have always deliberately gone for quality, with elite sector varieties. This is how they developed an interest in specials. In addition to standard tomatoes, the company now also grows Bellino and Cherrystar.

Kurt takes pride in what he does: β€œIt is great to produce sustainable, locally grown and market-oriented tomatoes. It is very satisfying. And people's positive reactions make it all even more worthwhile.”

In his spare time Kurt likes to make time for family and friends. He is very active: indoor football, running, tennis, etc.
